This bill authorizes the Hawaii Department of Education (DOE) to provide a tuition subsidy for resident students pursuing an education degree at a four-year University of Hawaii campus. To qualify, students must be full-time, in good academic standing, enrolled in a state-approved teacher education program, and pursuing a degree that requires student teaching hours. In exchange for the tuition subsidy, students must commit to teaching full-time in their licensed field at a public school in Hawaii for five years after receiving their teaching licensure recommendation.
