AI Summary

This bill requires individual and group health insurance policies in Illinois to provide coverage for standard fertility preservation services starting June 1, 2026. Standard fertility preservation services are defined as medical procedures based on current evidence-based standards established by professional medical associations like the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the American Society of Clinical Oncology, which may include techniques such as cryopreservation. The bill prohibits insurers from discriminating in coverage based on an individual's health conditions, age, sex, sexual orientation, or marital status. Additionally, insurers cannot impose different or more restrictive deductibles, copayments, waiting periods, or other limitations on fertility preservation services compared to other medical services. The bill amends multiple existing state laws, including the State Employees Group Insurance Act, the Counties Code, the Illinois Municipal Code, the School Code, the Health Maintenance Organization Act, the Limited Health Service Organization Act, and the Illinois Public Aid Code to ensure consistent implementation of the new fertility preservation coverage requirements across different types of health insurance and government programs.
