AI Summary
This bill amends the Michigan Compiled Laws to update sentencing guidelines by adding several new criminal offenses to the existing legal framework, specifically focusing on expanding categories of felonies related to public safety, public order, and personal offenses. The bill introduces new sentencing classifications for offenses such as the dissemination of intimate deep fake images with aggravating factors (a Class F felony with a maximum sentence of 3 years), subsequent obscenity offenses (a Class G felony with a maximum sentence of 2 years), and multiple riot-related crimes including riot, incitement to riot, and riot in state correctional facilities (Class D felonies with a maximum sentence of 10 years). Additionally, the bill is contingent on the passage of House Bill 4047, meaning it will only take effect if that companion bill becomes law. The legislation appears to be part of a broader effort to update criminal statutes, particularly addressing emerging technologies like deep fake images and providing clearer sentencing guidelines for various public safety and order offenses.
