AI Summary
This bill eliminates several specific subsections of Maine Revised Statutes Title 17-A that previously allowed for driver's license suspensions related to certain criminal offenses. Specifically, the bill repeals subsections in sections 1103, 1104, 1105-A, 1105-B, 1105-C, 1105-D, 1106, and 1118-A that previously permitted driver's license suspensions for various criminal convictions. By removing these provisions, the bill aims to reduce barriers to reentry for individuals who have been involved in the criminal justice system, recognizing that maintaining a driver's license can be crucial for employment, education, and successful reintegration into the community after serving a sentence. The bill appears to be part of a broader effort to support rehabilitation and reduce collateral consequences of criminal convictions that can impede an individual's ability to rebuild their life after interactions with the legal system.
