This bill amends the administrative code of New York City to provide additional pension benefits for police detectives, sergeants, and lieutenants based on their years of uniformed service. Specifically, the bill creates three tiers of pension benefit increases: for members with 25 years of service, they will receive a 5% increase to their highest grade of pay; for those with 30 years of service, a 10% increase; and for those with 35 years of service, a 15% increase. These percentage increases will be added to the applicable salary used for computing pension benefits within the New York City Police Pension Fund. The fiscal note suggests this legislation could impact approximately 129 detectives, 73 sergeants, and 51 lieutenants annually, with an estimated first-year increase in pension benefits of around $1.9 million.
