This bill allows uniformed law enforcement officers in Tennessee to wear military decorations, medals, service medals, and badges awarded to them by the United States armed forces, Tennessee National Guard, or state guard during an expanded timeframe around Veterans Day and Memorial Day. Specifically, officers can wear these honors during the week before each holiday, on the day of the holiday itself, and the day immediately following the holiday. The bill includes an important caveat that an officer's employer can still prohibit wearing these decorations if they determine that doing so could create a safety hazard for the officer or the public. This legislation aims to provide law enforcement personnel with additional opportunities to display and honor their military service achievements, while maintaining workplace safety considerations. The bill will take effect immediately upon becoming law, as determined by the Tennessee General Assembly.
