The current definition already covers a wide range of health care professionals, including physicians, nurses, therapists, technicians, and support workers across various mental health and medical settings. By adding parents caring for children with intellectual or developmental disabilities, the bill recognizes these caregivers as essential workers who provide critical support and assistance, making them eligible for the same bonus program as other health care and mental hygiene workers. The bill is retroactive, taking effect immediately and applying from April 9, 2022.
