This bill establishes a pilot program administered by the Tennessee Department of Health to provide free feminine hygiene products, such as tampons and sanitary napkins, to students in eligible public schools. An "eligible school" is defined as a public school teaching grades 5-12 that has a Title I schoolwide designation and is operated by a Local Education Agency (LEA), the state, or a charter school. The program will place hygiene vending machines in women's restrooms or locker rooms in selected schools, prioritizing those with the highest percentage of economically disadvantaged students. The department will supply the machines and products, and is encouraged to collaborate with various organizations and initiatives to secure resources and funding, with the program set to begin for the 2025-2026 school year.
