This bill provides Dawn Ward, who was employed by the Village of Kensington starting November 1, 1993, with retroactive membership in the New York State and Local Employees' Retirement System (NYSLERS) with Tier IV status. Specifically, the bill allows Ward, who is currently a Tier 5 member, to be deemed a member of the retirement system from her original employment date, despite not initially being enrolled, through no fault of her own. To take advantage of this provision, Ward must file an application with the retirement system within one year of the act's effective date.
