This bill requires school districts and charter schools to develop comprehensive cardiac emergency response plans starting in the 2026-2027 school year, aimed at reducing deaths from sudden cardiac arrest. Schools must consult with athletic trainers, make the plan publicly available, distribute it to relevant staff, and conduct annual reviews and simulations. The Minnesota State High School League is also required to adopt a similar plan for interscholastic athletic activities. To support implementation, the bill appropriates $2 million to help schools purchase equipment like AEDs, provide training, and develop educational materials, with funds available until June 30, 2027.
