AI Summary

This bill expands pharmacist services and reimbursement across multiple healthcare systems in Florida, including state group insurance plans, Medicaid managed care plans, individual and group health insurance policies, and health maintenance contracts. The legislation allows patients to select in-network pharmacists for any service within a licensed pharmacist's professional scope of practice, and prohibits health plans from denying reimbursement to these pharmacists for services that would be covered if performed by physicians, physician assistants, or advanced practice registered nurses. Additionally, the bill mandates that licensed pharmacists can count toward network adequacy standards for provider access, though the participation of pharmacies in drug benefit networks does not satisfy this requirement. By creating six new sections of Florida Statutes, the bill aims to broaden patient choice and recognize pharmacists' expanded clinical capabilities, with the provisions set to take effect on January 1, 2026. The legislation applies to various healthcare contexts, ensuring consistent treatment of pharmacists across different insurance and healthcare programs in the state.
