This resolution reappoints Ms. Nkechi Taifa, a resident of Ward 4 in Washington, D.C., to the Corrections Information Council Governing Board (CIC) for a term ending December 7, 2026. The CIC is an independent monitoring body that provides oversight of conditions for District of Columbia residents who are imprisoned in federal and local correctional facilities. The resolution, which takes effect immediately, directs the Council to transmit a copy of the resolution to Ms. Taifa, the CIC Governing Board chairperson, and the Office of the Mayor upon its adoption. The reappointment is made pursuant to the National Capital Revitalization and Self-Government Improvement Act of 1997, which established the Corrections Information Council, and the resolution formally recognizes Ms. Taifa's continued service on this governing board.
