This bill amends Florida Statute 102.031 to modify photography restrictions at polling places. Currently, photography is generally prohibited in polling rooms and early voting areas, with the exception that voters may photograph their own ballots. The proposed change would allow members of the public to take photographs before polls open and after polls close when voting has ended. Importantly, the bill explicitly prohibits cameras or recording devices from being affixed, mounted, or remaining inside polling rooms or early voting areas while voters are actively casting ballots. This modification aims to provide greater transparency in the voting process by permitting documentation of polling places at the beginning and end of voting days, while still protecting voter privacy during the actual voting process. The bill will take effect on July 1, 2025, giving election officials and the public time to prepare for and understand the new photography guidelines.
