This bill removes the postgraduate collaborative practice requirements for advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) in Minnesota. Specifically, it repeals a current statute that requires nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists to complete 2,080 hours of practice within a collaborative agreement in a hospital or integrated clinical setting before receiving full licensure. Under the existing law, these nurses must work closely with physicians or other advanced practice nurses, demonstrating shared experience in patient care and establishing a mutually agreed upon collaborative plan. The bill will eliminate these requirements, effective August 1, 2025, and will apply to nurses completing postgraduate practice and submitting licensure applications on or after that date. This change could potentially make it easier for advanced practice registered nurses to become fully licensed by removing the mandatory collaborative practice hours and formal collaborative agreement requirements that previously were necessary to obtain licensure.
