This bill authorizes a grant of $1,000,000 for each of the fiscal years 2026 and 2027 to the Minnesota Alliance With Youth to support their Promise Fellow program, which aims to improve student attendance and academic engagement. The program will work by forming partnerships between AmeriCorps members, schools, school districts, charter schools, and community organizations to provide intervention services for students. These services include family and caregiver outreach, academic support, connecting students to out-of-school activities and resources, and providing individual and small group mentoring designed to help students return to and maintain consistent school attendance. The Minnesota Alliance With Youth is also required to promote Promise Fellow program opportunities throughout the state, with the ultimate goal of supporting students who may be struggling with school attendance and academic performance.
