The resolution highlights the importance of developing local workforce skills in these high-technology industries to prevent companies from having to recruit workers from outside the state. Specifically, the resolution asks both institutions to evaluate the criteria for establishing educational programs that will equip students with the necessary skills to successfully enter the workforce upon graduation. Additionally, the resolution requires each institution to submit a report with their findings and recommendations, including potential legislative proposals, no later than twenty days before the 2026 Regular Session. The resolution also directs that copies be transmitted to key educational leadership, including the Chairpersons of the Board of Education and Board of Regents, as well as the Superintendent of Education and the President of the University of Hawaii.
