This concurrent resolution requests the Department of Education (DOE) and the University of Hawaii (UH) to evaluate and develop an educational strategy focused on preparing students for careers in advanced manufacturing and cybersecurity. The resolution highlights the importance of these high-technology industries, noting that advanced manufacturing incorporates innovative technologies like artificial intelligence, 3D printing, and robotics, while cybersecurity involves protecting networks, devices, and data from unauthorized access. Recognizing that local educational institutions like Leeward Community College and the University of Hawaii already have some relevant programs, the resolution aims to ensure that students acquire the necessary skills to enter the workforce and prevent companies from having to recruit out-of-state workers. Specifically, the DOE and UH are asked to assess the criteria for establishing an educational pipeline and curriculum in these fields and to submit a report with their findings and recommendations to the Legislature by twenty days before the 2026 Regular Session.
