AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to inclusive instruction and instructional materials
AI Summary
This bill requires the creation of an eleven-member task force, appointed by various state officials including the Governor, legislative leaders, and the Board of Regents, to study and recommend model curriculum and instructional materials for middle and high school students that cover the political, economic, and social contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual people, often abbreviated as LGBTQIA. The task force will also recommend policies and best practices for selecting inclusive educational materials, and its members will be chosen for their demonstrated educational background in these areas and for their diversity.
