This bill proposes a constitutional amendment to modify how vacancies are filled for several statewide elected offices in North Carolina, including the Secretary of State, Auditor, Treasurer, Superintendent of Public Instruction, Attorney General, Commissioner of Agriculture, Commissioner of Labor, and Commissioner of Insurance. Currently, when a vacancy occurs, the Governor appoints someone to serve until a successor is elected.
