This bill establishes a Dual Enrollment Task Force to examine and improve dual enrollment programs, which allow high school students to earn college credit. Their duties include reviewing current funding formulas for dual enrollment, analyzing cost variations among institutions, examining transparency and accountability in funding, identifying barriers to participation, and developing recommendations for adjustments to funding, incentives for high schools, student support services, and administrative processes. The task force will also analyze the use and effectiveness of online dual enrollment courses and identify metrics for evaluating proposed changes. The task force is required to report its findings and recommendations to the legislature by May 30, 2027, and will receive administrative support from the Department of Education, with compensation for members governed by existing state law. Additionally, the bill appropriates funds from the general fund to the Department of Education for the task force's activities.
