This bill directs the Maine Department of Labor to establish a diverse task force to investigate the disparity between workers' economic output and their wages. Specifically, the task force will review policies from other states and federal jurisdictions, assess the need for publishing annual statistics on economic output per job, consider requiring employers to disclose the monetary value generated by each employee's labor, and evaluate the feasibility of creating enforceable legislation addressing wage and economic output disparities. By December 3, 2025, the Department of Labor must submit a report with findings and recommendations to the Joint Standing Committee on Labor, which may then propose legislation during the Second Regular Session of the 132nd Legislature.
