This bill establishes the Commission on National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) Modernization, a temporary 11-member commission tasked with studying and recommending improvements to agricultural data collection and reporting processes. The commission will include representatives from various agricultural and government agencies, such as the NASS Administrator, Economic Research Service Administrator, and members appointed by Senate and House Agriculture Committees. Within two years of enactment, the commission must submit a comprehensive report to the President and congressional agriculture committees, including an inventory of current NASS surveys and recommendations for administrative, regulatory, and legislative changes. The commission will engage agricultural stakeholders, request information from federal agencies, and is authorized to receive $1,000,000 in funding for fiscal year 2026. The commission will operate until September 30, 2030, and members will be compensated according to federal guidelines, with non-federal members receiving daily compensation equivalent to a level IV Executive Schedule rate.
