The detailed examination will include analyzing various aspects of these accidents, such as location, roadway type, traffic patterns, driver visibility, road and weather conditions, driver attention and potential distractions, vehicle type, and whether the accident location has a history of similar incidents or specific infrastructure challenges. By December 3, 2025, the Department of Public Safety must submit a report of their findings to the Joint Standing Committee on Transportation, which may then propose legislation based on the report's recommendations. This bill represents an effort to understand and potentially mitigate pedestrian motor vehicle accidents by conducting a systematic and thorough investigation of their characteristics and potential root causes.
