This bill amends the New York State military law to establish a new "Campaign Medal for Service" specifically for military personnel who served in Iraq. The legislation stipulates that only one campaign medal can be issued per person, and the recipient must have maintained an honorable service record. If a medal recipient dies, the medal can be presented to a designated representative. The chief of staff of the state military affairs division will be responsible for creating rules and regulations governing the medal's presentation, including designing appropriate ribbons and determining the specific criteria for recipients. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
