This bill authorizes six specific police officers in the town of Southold, Suffolk County (Frank Lyburd III, Brian McNamara, Peter J. Jacobs, Roman S. Wilinski, Alex U. Chenche, and Tara T. Desposito) to receive service credit under a special retirement plan known as section 384-d of the retirement and social security law. These officers were originally enrolled in a general retirement plan (section 375-i) through no fault of their own and will now have the opportunity to switch to the optional twenty-year retirement plan. The town of Southold must file a resolution with the state comptroller within six months of the act's effective date, certifying that these officers did not bar themselves from participation through their own negligence.
