This resolution congratulates Knights of Columbus Council 499, the first Knights of Columbus council established in Wisconsin, on achieving 125 years of service and commitment to their community and church. Founded on June 17, 1900, under the leadership of Grand Knight William Dwyer, the council has played a pivotal role in establishing local councils throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest. Currently comprising 105 members, Council 499 continues to embody the organization's core principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism through extensive volunteer work and financial support for various community causes. Their charitable efforts include supporting local Catholic schools like Cathedral School, parish education programs in St. Anthony and St. Francis Xavier, providing assistance to the Challenge Center (which serves adults with developmental disabilities), and offering disaster relief funds to families and individuals experiencing hardship. The resolution recognizes the council's longstanding dedication to serving their church, community, and fellow citizens over more than a century of continuous service.
