This resolution congratulates Knights of Columbus Council 499 on achieving 125 years of service, recognizing their significant contributions to the Catholic Church and community. Established on June 17, 1900 as the first Knights of Columbus council in Wisconsin, the organization was initially led by Grand Knight William Dwyer and played a crucial role in establishing local councils throughout the state and Midwest region. Currently comprising 105 members, the council continues to embody its core principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism by providing extensive volunteer service and financial support to various local causes. These include supporting educational programs at Cathedral School, St. Anthony in Lake Nebagamon, St. Francis Xavier, and St. Anthony in Superior, as well as providing assistance to the Challenge Center, which serves adults with developmental disabilities, and offering disaster relief funds to families and individuals experiencing hardship.
