This bill authorizes Frank R. Smith, a retired detective from the New York City Police Department who joined the New York City Employees Retirement System on June 30, 1992, to receive accidental performance of duty disability retirement benefits. These benefits are for illnesses he suffered due to exposure to diseases while performing undercover duties starting in August 2002, for which his initial application was denied.
