This bill authorizes the village of Kings Point in Nassau County to convert 2.4817 acres of existing parkland (located on Steamboat Road) into a parking area for a new community center being constructed by the United Mashadi Jewish Community of America. To compensate for the loss of parkland, the village must dedicate 5.76 acres of new land (located on Middle Neck Road) as parkland. If the fair market value of the new parkland is less than the value of the parkland being alienated, the village must use the difference to acquire additional parklands or make capital improvements to existing park and recreational facilities. The bill also requires that if the original parkland was purchased with federal funding, the village must comply with federal requirements for parkland conversion, including obtaining approval from the Secretary of the Interior to ensure the replacement land is equivalent in value and usefulness. The act would take effect immediately upon passage.
