This bill requires the board of registration of cosmetology and barbering to develop and make available a sample warning sign about human trafficking for businesses in the cosmetology industry. The sign must be at least 8½ by 11 inches and displayed in a conspicuous location visible to patrons and employees. The sign will include a warning about forced labor being a crime, along with the National Human Trafficking Hotline number (1-888-373-7888), and will be translated into multiple languages including English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Portuguese. The board, in consultation with the attorney general, will annually review and update the languages represented on the sign to ensure it effectively reaches diverse populations. This measure aims to raise awareness about human trafficking and provide a resource for potential victims in cosmetology-related businesses such as shops, schools, and mobile businesses.
