Bill Summary
This bill requires the Department of Health Services to enter into partnerships with health care providers, including obstetricians and gynecologists, and community health centers and hospitals to educate women on the symptoms, processes, and other issues surrounding perimenopause and menopause so that women may be prepared for perimenopause and menopause. The bill requires DHS to create, in coordination with these partners, informational materials, in electronic and physical form, that may be distributed to or accessed by women who are determined by their health care provider to be experiencing or will soon be experiencing perimenopause and menopause. For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as an appendix to this bill.
AI Summary
This bill requires the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) to develop a comprehensive educational program about perimenopause and menopause. Specifically, DHS must establish partnerships with healthcare providers like obstetricians, gynecologists, community health centers, and hospitals to create educational materials for women. These materials, which will be available in both electronic and physical formats, must cover five key areas: symptoms and treatments for perimenopause and menopause, medical symptoms warranting professional consultation, the biological processes underlying these life stages, guidance on discussing perimenopause and menopause with family and friends, and any additional information DHS deems necessary to help women understand and prepare for these transitions. The goal is to ensure women are well-informed and equipped to navigate the physical and emotional changes associated with perimenopause and menopause. The bill will take effect on the first day of the third month following its publication.
