This ceremonial resolution recognizes Regina Sullivan's distinguished career at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), where she served as Senior Vice President for Government Relations for 15 years, capping off a more-than-40-year professional journey in public service. The resolution highlights Sullivan's significant achievements, including leading a successful 2018 regional effort to secure $500 million in annual dedicated infrastructure funding for the Metrorail system, playing a key role in launching DMVMoves for regional transit coordination, working with the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments to improve emergency communications, and securing critical federal funding through the Passenger Rail Investment and Improvement Act and COVID-19 relief. Prior to her WMATA role, Sullivan worked in various public and private sector positions, including on Senate staff and as a Presidential appointee in the Clinton-Gore Administration. The Council of the District of Columbia salutes Sullivan for her diligent efforts to support and improve public transportation, commending her for 15 years of service that have benefited District residents, visitors, and businesses, and formally recognizing her retirement effective October 10, 2025.
