This bill, the Community Health Amendment Act of 2025, expands the authority of healthcare providers in the District of Columbia to order and administer immunizations. Previously, providers were limited to administering vaccines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and its Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). This bill amends existing laws, specifically the District of Columbia Health Occupations Revision Act of 1985 and the Consent for Vaccinations of Minors Amendment Act of 2022, to allow providers to also administer immunizations recommended by other competent medical or public health organizations, as designated by the Director of the Department of Health through public notice. This change provides greater flexibility in adopting up-to-date immunization recommendations from a broader range of trusted health authorities.
