To support this change, the bill appropriates $1,226,804 in recurring funds from the General Revenue Fund for the 2026-2027 fiscal year to cover the retirement benefits of these newly included positions. Additionally, the bill allows Senior Management Service Class members to purchase additional retirement credit for past service back to October 1, 2007, though this credit cannot be purchased by the employer on behalf of the member. The legislation will take effect on July 1, 2026, providing ample time for implementation and preparation.
