This bill establishes the Indian Medicaid Managed Care Model taskforce, a group tasked with researching the feasibility of creating Indian Medicaid managed care entities within the state. Medicaid is a government health insurance program for low-income individuals, and managed care entities are organizations that coordinate and deliver these services. The taskforce will be comprised of representatives from each federally recognized Indian tribe in the state, state department secretaries (Social Services, Health, and Tribal Relations) or their designees, legislative members, a representative from the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs, and appointed members representing healthcare providers, insurance providers, and administrators. This taskforce will gather input from various stakeholders and is required to submit its findings and any proposed legislation to the Governor by December 1, 2028, with administrative support provided by the Department of Social Services.
