This bill amends Florida Statute 448.095 to require all private employers, regardless of their size, to use the E-Verify system to confirm a new employee's legal right to work in the United States, starting on July 1, 2026. Previously, this requirement only applied to private employers with 25 or more employees. E-Verify is a federal government online system that compares information from an employee's Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, to government records to confirm employment eligibility. The bill also removes a provision that allowed employers voluntarily using E-Verify to certify their compliance.
