This bill creates the Experimental Treatment Access Trust Fund within the Department of Health to help Florida residents with the costs of traveling for experimental treatments or with partial care costs for these treatments, which are defined as treatments for terminal conditions and life-threatening rare diseases. Licensed experimental treatment centers can contribute to this fund by donating 2 percent of their net annual profits from experimental treatments or by providing experimental treatment care at no cost, with the value of this care determined by department rules. The trust fund is scheduled to terminate on July 1, 2030, unless ended sooner, and will be reviewed before its termination. This bill will only take effect on July 1, 2026, if a related bill, HB 1381, or similar legislation is also passed and becomes law during the same legislative session.
