Bill Summary
Authorizing a person operating a bicycle, play vehicle, or unicycle at an intersection who is facing a red signal to enter the intersection to cross the highway in the direction of a pedestrian control "walk" signal displayed for the portion of the highway on which the bicycle, play vehicle, or unicycle is traveling; and requiring, before entering an intersection, a person operating a bicycle, play vehicle, or unicycle to yield the right-of-way to any vehicle or pedestrian lawfully using the intersection.
AI Summary
This bill allows individuals riding bicycles, play vehicles (like scooters or skateboards), or unicycles at an intersection to proceed through a red traffic light if a pedestrian "walk" signal is displayed for their direction of travel, provided they first yield to any vehicles or pedestrians already lawfully in the intersection. This change modifies existing law by creating an exception to the general rule that all traffic signals must be obeyed by these types of riders, allowing them to follow pedestrian signals in specific circumstances.
