This bill, known as the "Safe Highways and Roads Enforcement (SHARE) Act," mandates that courts impose an additional fine on individuals convicted of moving traffic violations or driving under the influence of an intoxicant, with these collected funds to be deposited into the state highway fund for road maintenance and infrastructure improvements. Specifically, for non-commercial vehicles, a $25 fine will be added to moving traffic violations, and for commercial vehicles, a $50 fine will be added. For driving under the influence (DUI) offenses, a $100 fine will be assessed, and if a person is convicted of both DUI and a moving traffic violation, only the $100 DUI fine will be applied, not the additional fine for the moving violation. This act will take effect on July 1, 2026, and apply to offenses committed on or after that date.
