This bill appropriates $143,000 from the General Fund to the Agency of Natural Resources for fiscal year 2027, which will then be granted to the Green Mountain Economic Development Corporation (GMEDC). The purpose of this grant is to cover the costs associated with reinitiating brownfields site development at the Upper Valley Regional Landfill, located in Post Mills, Thetford. Brownfields are abandoned or underutilized properties where past industrial or commercial activities may have caused contamination, and redeveloping them often involves significant cleanup and planning. Specifically, the funds will help GMEDC cover expenses related to a probate proceeding to be appointed as Court Appointed Administrator, which is necessary to facilitate the transfer of the landfill site to new ownership for redevelopment approval. This act will become effective upon its passage.
