This bill modifies existing Colorado laws concerning land survey monumentation to allow for alternative placement of reference monuments when original monuments cannot be safely set due to their position on a traveled public right-of-way, such as a federal, state, or other public road. It also updates requirements for county clerks and recorders to maintain monument records, permitting them to keep these records in electronic format, and mandates that professional land surveyors submit monument records electronically when certain types of public land survey monuments or control corners are used or rehabilitated, with the state board no longer being able to require paper submissions for these records.
