This bill establishes the Climate-Resilient Food Systems Grant Program within the Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity (DAB) to support climate adaptation, resiliency, and food system infrastructure in the state, with funds appropriated for its establishment and requiring the DAB to adopt rules to define key terms and carry out the program's purposes. The program will award grants on a competitive basis to agricultural producers, including farmers and ranchers, and food and resilience hubs for costs related to special-purpose equipment or technology, personnel expenses, training, and planning or technical assistance, with applicants needing to detail eligible climate adaptation technologies or practices, a plan for expanding agricultural production, processing, storage, and distribution, and how the grant will support climate adaptation, resiliency, food system infrastructure, and local agricultural production. This initiative is set to take effect on July 1, 2050.
