This bill extends the Task Force on Responsible Use of Natural Psychedelic Substances, which studies and makes recommendations regarding the use of naturally derived substances like psilocybin and psilocin (but not peyote), until December 31, 2027. The Task Force, comprised of various state officials, legislative members, and appointed experts, is also required to submit an updated report of its findings and recommendations to the Governor and the General Assembly by October 31, 2026, building upon its previous work of studying existing laws, public benefits, potential risks, and barriers to access for these substances, with the ultimate goal of recommending a program for broad, equitable, and affordable access and suggesting ways to decriminalize certain nonviolent offenses related to these substances.
