This bill extends the Task Force on Responsible Use of Natural Psychedelic Substances, which studies and makes recommendations regarding the use of naturally derived substances like psilocybin and dimethyltryptamine (but not peyote), until December 31, 2027. It also adds a representative from a historically Black college or university in the state to the Task Force's membership, which includes various state officials, experts, and individuals with relevant experience. The Task Force is required to submit an updated report of its findings and recommendations to the Governor and the General Assembly by October 31, 2026, building upon its ongoing work to study existing laws, data on benefits and risks, and barriers to access, with the goal of recommending a program for broad, equitable, and affordable access to these substances and suggesting ways to decriminalize certain nonviolent offenses related to them.
