This bill amends Tennessee law concerning alarm system contractors by creating an exemption for certain managed services providers, which are businesses that manage and maintain a customer's information technology systems. Specifically, a managed services provider will not be subject to the Alarm Contractors Licensing Act if they sell, install, or maintain IP cameras connected to their own network, if these services generate less than 25% of their total annual revenue, and if they can prove their employees have undergone satisfactory background checks as determined by the commissioner. However, this exemption does not apply to managed services providers that also offer monitoring services.
