This bill amends Tennessee law to create an exemption from the requirements of the Alarm Contractors Licensing Act for certain managed services providers, which are businesses that manage and maintain a customer's information technology systems. Specifically, a managed services provider will not need to be licensed as an alarm contractor if they sell, install, or maintain IP cameras connected to their own network, as long as these services generate less than 25% of their total annual revenue and they can prove their employees have undergone satisfactory background checks, as determined by the commissioner. However, this exemption does not apply to managed services providers that also offer monitoring services.
