This bill, by amending Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 40, Chapter 3, eliminates specific fees and assessments previously collected for fraud and economic crimes prosecutions in counties that have implemented a $12.50 court cost to supplement funding for the district attorney general's office, which is the chief prosecutor in a judicial district. Furthermore, any existing funds collected under these now-eliminated fraud and economic crimes provisions must be returned to the county government that originally collected them, once the new $12.50 court cost has generated sufficient funds to match the amount previously held in the fraud and economic crimes prosecution fund.
