This bill, by amending Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 40, Chapter 3, eliminates specific fees and assessments previously collected for fraud and economic crimes prosecutions in counties that have implemented a $12.50 court cost to provide supplemental funding for the district attorney general's office, which is the chief prosecutor in a judicial district. Furthermore, any existing funds collected under these now-eliminated fraud and economic crimes provisions that are currently held by a district attorney general will be returned to the county government that originally collected them, but only after the new $12.50 court cost has generated enough revenue to match the balance of the previously collected fraud and economic crimes funds.
