AI Summary

This bill establishes the "Bring Veterans to New Jersey Program" within the Department of Military and Veterans' Affairs to help New Jersey employers hire qualified veterans by offering relocation assistance. The program will be administered by a contracted nonprofit organization, and the department will partner with employers who agree to provide this assistance to eligible veterans for approved expenses, with the department reimbursing employers up to $5,000 per household. To qualify, veterans must relocate from another state to New Jersey for employment with a participating employer and remain employed for at least 12 months, though provisions exist for partial or full forgiveness of reimbursement in cases of termination not due to the veteran's fault, such as family emergencies or layoffs. Veterans will create profiles with the nonprofit to be contacted by employers, and after accepting a job, they will document their relocation expenses, which the employer will then reimburse before seeking reimbursement from the department. The Adjutant General will establish the necessary rules and regulations for the program, which will become effective 180 days after enactment.
