This bill requires the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), within two years of its enactment, to ensure public access for boats to any lake or reservoir owned by the State or a county where boats, with or without motors, are already permitted. If the DEP cannot provide this access, the commissioner must report to the Governor and the Legislature, explaining the reasons and detailing any necessary funding if the issue is a lack of money. The bill also removes a previous appropriation of $2 million from the General Fund for this purpose and states that the act takes effect immediately.
