This bill, known as the Informed Enrollment Act, requires all Maryland higher education institutions that admit first-time undergraduate students to prominently display a link to the U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard website on their prospective student websites by July 1, 2027. The College Scorecard is a federal resource that provides data on college costs, graduation rates, and student outcomes like salaries and debt. In addition to the link, institutions must provide an explanation of the resource and its relevance to these key areas, and actively share this information during student orientations, in recruitment materials, and regularly with prospective students, new students, current students, academic advisors, and career counselors, including posting it on social media at least once per semester. This requirement is contingent on the College Scorecard being available from the U.S. Department of Education or another federal agency, and the bill will be void if the resource is terminated.
